Domino is a popular game in which small dominoes are pushed and then allowed to fall, one after another, on a long line. This game can be played with just two or as many players as desired. The goal of the game is to build a sequence that will result in all of the dominoes falling. In addition to being a fun game, domino is an excellent way to teach students about patterns.
Like playing cards, dominoes are normally twice as long as they are wide. They are marked on both sides with a set of spots or symbols, known as pips. Some pips are colored while others are blank. The number of pips on a particular side determines its value and is sometimes used to indicate the rank or weight of the domino. For example, a domino that has six pips is called a double-six, while a domino with no pips is considered a zero.
A domino can be made of a variety of materials, including clay, wood, marble, granite, and polymer-based composites. Each type of domino has its own specific qualities, such as its weight, the material from which it is formed, and how prone it is to cracking or breaking. Some sets are made from natural materials, such as bone, silver lip ocean pearl oyster shell (mother of pearl), ivory, and dark hardwoods such as ebony; these tend to be heavier than their polymer counterparts.
Domino also has the power of telekinetic luck. This ability allows her to subliminally influence probability in favor of herself by making improbable events occur. This can range from causing an enemy’s equipment to fail or shut down to hitting just the right switch to shut down an overloading nuclear reactor.
When she is not using her telekinetic powers, Domino works as an independent mutant freelancer. She has been hired by the X-Corporation to investigate mutant rights violations and, later, as a part of the new X-Force. During her tenure with X-Force, Domino has battled the Reavers and helped free mutant prisoners from the Aguilar Institute in California, where S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were conducting anti-mutant research.
She also assisted Jesse Aaronson and other mutants in foiling the government’s Operation Zero Tolerance by posing as a camera crew to enter and investigate the facility. Later, Domino and a future version of Cable teamed up to find and destroy the new Weapon X program’s secret base in Florida, led by the fanatical quasi-priest Flag-Smasher.
Domino has also worked with a number of freelance clients, including the Undying alien Aentaeros, who attempted to use her for his messianic world engine, and British mutant Corben. In addition to her work with mutants, Domino has helped other humans as well, such as Pete Wisdom’s black ops team ULTIMATUM and the mutant bounty hunter Raza.
