Domino

Domino (stylized as DOMINO) is a game of matching ends of rectangular blocks, called dominoes or dominations, which are placed on their side in long lines. When the first one is tipped over, it triggers all the other ones to tip, creating elaborate and sometimes catastrophic chains of events. This led to the coining of the phrase “domino effect,” meaning that a small action can cause a chain reaction with much greater-and often catastrophic-consequences.

The term is also used for a business model or strategy that involves a small initial investment followed by a series of rapid and successive growth stages. The success of this type of model depends on a firm’s ability to quickly grow its market share, acquire and retain customers, develop new products or services, increase revenue, and create long-term value for shareholders and employees.

Hevesh uses a technique known as domino engineering, wherein she builds the largest 3-D sections of an installation first and then connects them to each other with flat arrangements and then lines of dominoes. This allows her to test each section individually and then film them in slow motion, allowing her to make adjustments as needed. She also tests all the larger pieces in a tethered environment before putting them up on a building’s façade, so she can be sure that they will work properly.

Although Domino’s powers are unconsciously triggered, she is able to subliminally and psionically initiate random telekinetic effects that change probability in her favor, causing things to happen that should not happen – such as a sentinel vaporizing with lightning or a bullet missing the mark and hitting the droid instead. This is sometimes referred to as her lucky power.

Following her time with the Punisher, Domino rejoined X-Force. She was involved in a volatile run in with the Prime Sentinel Gryaznova, whom she had seriously injured during Operation: Zero Tolerance. As revenge, Gryaznova implanted Domino with a neural blocker that interfered with her synaptic relays, cutting off her powers and reducing her coordination. After a confrontation in Hell’s Kitchen, she was saved by Jesse Aaronson, who used his abilities to disrupt machinery and disable the blocker.

During her time with X-Force, Domino helped resurrect Jean Grey and defeated the Red Queen. She then took part in a bank robbery with Spiral, Chimera and Lady Deathstrike, and was accidentally snatched out of the timeline by Halloween Jack, who wanted her to prevent Cable’s destruction of the Facade virus. Domino was rescued by the Six Pack, and at Cable’s request she joined his mercenary team.

After a brief stint with the Six Pack, Domino was a member of X-Force again until she departed to pursue personal profit. Later, she returned after a run-in with a corrupted version of herself, who was being controlled by the malevolent spirit Aentaros. She was re-instated into the main timeline by Deadpool, who neutralized Aentaros’s mental abilities.
